Hi, I’m Ashley

Hi, I’m Ashley

I am endlessly fascinated by how humans work: our brains, our choices, the stories we tell, and the environments that shape us.

My interests vary a lot, and I love diving into new things. Sometimes that looks like reading about neuroscience or the gut brain connection, and other times it is getting lost in gardening projects or crocheting a new blanket. That same curiosity also shows up in how I study the ways people collaborate, create, and make sense of complex tools. It is what led me into research, and today I am excited to help build a research function at Automattic that puts real people at the center of every product decision.

I grew up in Colorado and feel most grounded when I am outdoors, whether I am skiing, hiking, golfing, riding horses, or finding a lake to wake surf on. I also lived abroad throughout my early adulthood, which gave me a deep appreciation for how differently people experience the world and how important that diversity is when building products that serve everyone.

When I am not working, you will usually find me walking my two dogs, Henry and Gus, or curled up with a good book and a cup of tea or a glass of wine depending on the day. Reading is one of my favorite ways to unwind and learn. I set a goal of finishing at least 52 books a year and always have something new on my nightstand.

This site is a small snapshot of what I am exploring: ideas I am learning, places I love, the outdoors that keeps me grounded, and the curiosity that shapes my work. I am glad you are here.
